Technology Companies NXme and IWA merge – New Oivan Is Born

Technology companies NXme and IWA merge – new international Oivan grows despite Covid-19 pandemic

9/22/2020 – Established Finnish technology companies IWA and NXme merge. The result is Oivan, a cyber security and software development expert that serves Finnish and international customers with 106 employees.

With 20+ years of combined digitalization experience the new company is firmly looking to the future. In spite of these exceptionally challenging times, the company is aiming for growth of 35% this year as well. This clearly forecasts a turnover of more than eight million euros for 2020. This prediction is supported by factors such as a new multi-year development agreement worth more than four million euros with an international telecommunications organization.

In addition to major international breakthroughs Oivan serves customers in its home country,  Finland. The highly secure publishing platform previously implemented for the City of Helsinki was updated this spring with an accelerated schedule to meet the unexpected challenges of thousands of city employees pivoting to remote work. Oivan also developed the digital services platform for the innovative VALO Hotel Helsinki, which was launched in September 2020.

The company has achieved annual growth of more than 30 percent for three years in a row. Oivan employs over 100 experts throughout Finland, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Vietnam. Oivan is a truly international and multicultural company, as its employees represent more than a dozen nationalities and about 75 percent of this year’s turnover comes from outside of Finland.

“We at IWA and NXme have been operating for more than a decade in a decentralized and international model in an industry with client-seated resources as the default modus operandi. The dramatic events of 2020 have forced organizations to move to remote working. The decentralized team model we have been using for a long time is now better suited to our customers’ needs than ever before,” commented Rami Korhonen, CEO of the company. “Oivan is the fusion of  IWA’s extensive software development background and NXme’s high-end cyber security expertise. It serves our customers throughout the software lifecycle, from design and implementation to secure operations.”

Oivan will continue to operate with the support of a strong board of directors. Serial entrepreneur Rami Korhonen will continue as CEO. Board of directors is headed by Rasmus Roiha, known as the CEO of the Software Entrepreneurs Association and an IWA founder. Oiva Karppinen, the founder of NXme and a veteran of the Finnish IT industry, will also continue to work on the board. One employee representative is also present on the Board.
