DESIGNING AN IT SYSTEM AND WEB FRONTEND FOR NOLI STUDIOS
NREP is a vertically integrated real estate product innovator, developer, investor, and operator that seeks to make real estate better.
In 2017 NREP contracted IWA to help them in designing the IT system for its future business concept, which was then still in stealth-mode. This business concept was later launched in 2019 as the Noli Studios serviced living concept.
At the beginning of the project, we took responsibility for turning NREP’s innovative ideas into a defined service concept and meticulously crafted an IT architecture plan.

HOW WE GOT STARTED
The project started in the summer of 2017 with a kick-off workshop lead by IWA’s CEO Rami Korhonen, who has 20-years experience in designing digital services. At the kick-off workshop IWA and NREP agreed on the project management processes and started to:
- Design User Personas
- List Required Features
- Identify Potential Risks
- Define Project Success Criteria
- Create Customer Journeys
After the kick-off workshop, IWA’s UX designer and Senior Software Architect Aki took charge of taking the project forward from IWA’s side. The parties settled on a 2-week sprint cycle and started the challenging and inspiring work.
OUR DESIGN APPROACH
After the preliminary definition of personas and customer journeys, our UX designer started to create interactive wireframes that formed the basis for further usability iterations. Simultaneously IWA’s software architect Aki commenced the planning of the micro-service based system architecture for the service.
After five months of actual work, IWA presented NREP with a fully actionable plan for the new PropTech IT system architecture and dynamic wireframes for a human-centric web service both for consumers and business users.
PRODUCTION PHASE
After internal planning, NREP decided to build the IT system on top of a 3rd party hotel booking platform, while giving IWA the responsibility to develop the visible web frontend for the Noli Studios web service.
Our lead for the developer for the project, Waleed, created the Noli Studios frontend with Angular. The project included a lot of API integration work refinement of the user experience. Our client and we launched the Noli Studios website as planned when the first hotel opened in the fall of 2019.
